Dr. Tye Ching Thian is an Associate Professor in the School of Chemical Engineering, Universiti Sains Malaysia. She received her doctoral degree at The University of British Columbia, Canada in 2006, specializing in catalysis and chemical reaction engineering. Previouly, she obtained her Master degree from Universiti Sains Malaysia working in a modeling and simulation project.
Over the past decade, Dr. Tye has been actively involved in investigating the fundamental issues of catalyst such as the effects of its structure in cracking and treating of different uncoventional energy resources such as heavy oil, residue, used motor oil and palm oil. Dr. Tye is also interested in cross field collaboration, such as investigation of bitumen characteristic enhancement (chemical engineering) in road pavement technology (civil engineering), to create a greater value to the society.
