Dr. Sheela Ramamoorthy is a veterinarian and virologist, who obtained her BVSc from the Madras Veterinary College in India, M.S in Microbiology and Molecular Genetics from the Oklahoma State University, followed by a PhD in Biomedical Sciences from Virginia Tech. She has served in several academic positions, and is currently an associate professor at the N. Dakota State University. Her research is focused on studying vaccine mediated immunity and developing novel vaccines and diagnostics in the context of polymicrobial respiratory disease complex of swine. Dr. Ramamoorthy had authored over fifty peer-reviewed publications. Her research is well funded by federal and state agencies in the USA. She has served as a board member of the American Association of Veterinary Immunology, editor for Archives of Virology, chair of the National Committee on PRRSV and emerging infections of swine, and as a grant review panelist for the United States Department of Agriculture and National Institutes of Health.
