Ali Samer Muhsan is a Senior Lecturer and cluster leader at the Petroleum Engineering Department, Universiti Teknologi PETRONAS (UTP), Malaysia. He received his PhD in 2014 from the Mechanical Engineering Department (Advanced Materials), UTP and MSc in Materials Engineering (Nanotechnology) from Universiti Sains Malaysia (USM), Malaysia. Before he joined the Petroleum Engineering Department, UTP, he worked as a postdoctoral researcher for 1.5 year (2014-2015) in the Center of Innovative Nanostructures & Nanodevices (COINN, Malaysia) and his research was mainly focusing on the use of nanotechnology in Oil & Gas exploration and production such as the role of graphene oxide as an additive for fluid-loss-control. His recent research work concerns on studying the effect of resin-based hybrid nanocomposites coated proppant for improved compression strength and fines migration control in hydraulic fracturing as well as the impact of nanocarbon additives based nanofluid as a preflush coating for improved scale inhibitor adsorption onto formation rock. As a result, he has secured 4 national research grants with cumulative amount of about 140,000.0 USD and authored 38 Scopus and ISI indexed journal publications and granted 2 patents. His research has been recognized by 14 awards (5 gold, 2 silver and 1 bronze medal with 6 best paper/presenter awards) received from different national and international conferences and exhibitions
