Dr. Federica Pellati graduated cum laude in 2000 in Pharmaceutical Chemistry and Technology at the Faculty of Pharmacy of the University of Modena and Reggio Emilia. In 2004 she got a PhD degree in Pharmaceutical Sciences. Then she had a post-doctoral fellowship position in Medicinal Chemistry and in 2006 she got a position of Assistant Professor in Medicinal Chemistry at the University of Modena and Reggio Emilia. In 2014, she got the Italian Professorship Qualification (ASN 2012) as an Associate Professor in Medicinal Chemistry. The research activity of Dr. Pellati is focused on the development of innovative techniques for the extraction and analysis of bioactive natural products, and on the isolation of new bioactive compounds of natural origin. She has a number of national and international research collaborations and she participates to peer-reviewed research projects. Dr. Pellati is the author of more than 60 papers in ISI indexed international journals, n. 3 book chapters, n. 4 proceedings in international journals, n. 2 patents and more than 90 congress communications (oral and poster).
Chiara Milanese is associate professor of Physical Chemistry at the Chemistry Department of the University of Pavia (Italy). Her main research interests regard the synthesis of innovative nanomaterials for solid state hydrogen storage and for energy storage, their physico-chemical characterization and the evaluation of their storage performance. In the last 5 years, her attention was mainly focused on C-based materials, in particular fullerene derivatives and biochar. She is author of 165 papers on materials science topics and she is expert of the IEA Task 40 “Energy storage and conversion based on hydrogen”.

Wilfred van der Wiel (1975) obtained his M.Sc. degree in Applied Physics (cum laude) from Delft University of Technology in The Netherlands in 1997. He did his Ph.D. research on electron transport in quantum dots and electron interferometers both at Delft University of Technology and NTT Basic Research Laboratories in Japan. He obtained his Ph.D. degree (cum laude) in 2002. After that he joined the University of Tokyo as a postdoc and in the same year he was appointed Pioneer (Sakigake) Fellow of the Japan Science and Technology Agency (JST). In 2005 he moved to the MESA+ Institute for Nanotechnology at the University of Twente in The Netherlands, where he took the position of Program Leader of the interdisciplinary Nano Electronics program. Presently he is full professor, holding the Chair Nano Electronics. In 2006 he was awarded the VIDI grant of the Dutch National Science Foundation (NWO). He was a member of the Young Academy of the Royal Netherlands Academy of Arts and Sciences (KNAW) from 2006 till 2012, and a member of the Global Young Academy (GYA) from 2012 till 2017, where he served two years in the Executive Committee. He has led the bottom-up Nano Electronics research section within the Dutch nanotechnology network NanoNed. He received a Starting Grant of the European Research Council (ERC) in 2009, and two ERC Proof of Concept Grants in 2014 and 2015. Henry M. Sobell completed his studies at Brooklyn Technical High School (1948-1952), Columbia College (1952-1956), and the University of Virginia School of Medicine (1956-1960). Instead of practicing clinical medicine, he then went to the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) to join Professor Alexander Rich in the Department of Biology (1960-1965), where, as a Helen Hay Whitney Postdoctoral Fellow, he learned the technique of single crystal X-ray analysis. He then joined the Chemistry Department at the University of Rochester, having been subsequently jointly appointed to both the Chemistry and Molecular Biophysics departments (the latter at the University of Rochester School of Medicine and Dentistry), becoming a full tenured Professor in both departments (1965-1993). Andrés E. Dulcey was born in Cali, Colombia. After completing a Bachelor of Science in Chemistry from The Ohio State University, he joined the laboratory of Professor Virgil Percec at the University of Pennsylvania. His doctoral research focused on the design, synthesis and structural characterization of biologically-inspired libraries of amphiphilic compounds which self-assemble into functional, helical, porous channels. After completion of his doctoral degree, Andrés joined the National Institutes of Health (NIH), first as a Postdoctoral Fellow and then as a Research Scientist, where he has spent over 10 years working in different modalities of medicinal chemistry. Prof. Nissim Garti is a full professor of chemistry and the director of the Casali Center of Applied Chemistry, The Department of Chemistry of the Hebrew University of Jerusalem, Israel.
