Richard has completed his PhD at the University of Zabrze, Poland 20 years ago. He is cardiothoracic surgeon with experience from University of Zabrze, University of Cape Town, National University of Singapore, National Heart Centre (Singapore) and University of Waikato, New Zealand. Currently working in private practice in Warsaw. His research interest and publications are on unusual heart conditions mostly seen in Sub-Saharan Africa and Southeast Asia. He defined the ethiology for rare non-ischemic left ventricular aneurysms seen in South African young patients (Bantu aneurysm) as an aneurysm of lymphatic origine. He was also volunteer with Singapore Red Cross relief mission to Sumatra-Acech after tsunami disaster in 2005.
