Biography
Francesco Pierri received the Laurea degree (master degree) cum laude in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Basilicata, Italy, in 2003. In 2006 he was a visiting scholar at the Department of Automatic Control of Lund Institute of Technology in Lund, Sweden. He received the PhD degree in Environmental Engineering from University of Basilicata in 2007, with the final dissertation “Modeling, Control and Fault Diagnosis for Chemical Batch Reactors". From 2006 to 2008 he had postdoctoral positions at the University of Basilicata and at the University of Naples, Federico II, working on control and fault diagnosis of cooperative manipulators and on control of robotic hands. From December 2008 he is Assistant Professor of Automatic Control and Robotics at the School of Engineering of the University of Basilicata. In August 2017 he received the Italian National Scientific Qualification to the associate professor position. He is member of IEEE Control System Society and IEEE Robotics and Automation Society since 2005. His research interests include: fault diagnosis and fault-tolerant control of nonlinear systems, process control, force control for robotic manipulators, fault diagnosis and fault tolerant control of multi-robot systems and control of aerial manipulators. He has been involved in research projects funded by the European Community, the Italian Ministry of University and Scientific Research, the Italian Space Agency and other public and private institutions. Since 2013, he has been an Associate Editor of the International Journal of Robotics and Automation and of the IEEE International Conference on Robotics and Automation (ICRA). He was in the program committee of several international conferences, such as IEEE International Conference on Robotics and Biomimetics (Robio) and IEEE International Conference on Information and Automation (ICIA). He is co-author of the book "Control and Monitoring of Chemical Batch Reactors" and of more than 50 papers on international journals and international conference proceedings.
