Sessions and tracks

TRACK 1:Pharmacology and Toxicology

Pharmacology is the research of how substances associated with living organisms to create an adjustment in the capacity. Pharmacology is a branch of biomedical science, encompassing clinical pharmacology that is associated with the effects of drugs and pharmaceuticals products and other xenobiotics on living systems, as well as their development and chemical properties. Toxicology is the study of poisons, or more accurately the study of how chemicals interfere with the normal function of a biological system. According to the 15thcenturyphysician and father of toxicology, Paracelsus (1493-1541), “All substances are poisons; there is none which is not a poison. The right dose differentiates a poison and a remedy,” or the dose makes the poison.

Pharmaceutical biotechnology is a relatively different and developing area in which the principles of biotechnology is applied to the development of drugs. Most of the therapeutic drugs in the present market are bio formulations, such as antibodies, nucleic acid products, and vaccines. Such bio formulations are produced through several steps that include, understanding the concepts of health and disease; the fundamental molecular mechanisms ruling the functions of related biomolecules; synthesis and purification of the molecules; identifying the shelf life of the product, stability, toxicity, and immunogenicity; drug delivery systems; patenting, and clinical trials.

Nanomedicine is among the numerous opportunities and advances promoted by nanotechnology. The definitions of nanomedicine accepted today were established by the National Institutes of Health of The United States and the European Science Foundation, which define nanomedicine as the “science that uses nanoparticles to the development of diagnosis, treatment, and prevention of specific medical applications.

It can be simply defined as the degree of absorption of the drug by our body. Bioavailabilitycompletely depends on the route of administration and formulation of the drug. There are two types of bioavailability, absolute bioavailability, and relative bioavailability. We can get 100% bioavailability through intravenous administration.

Bioequivalence is defined as the comparison and finding similarities of one or more drugs. Formulations consist of the same active substance or ingredients are called bioequivalence. If their rate of absorption and formulations are the same, they are said to be bioequivalence drugs. The United States food and Drug Administration (FDA) has defined bioequivalence as "the absence of a significant difference in the rate and extent to which the active ingredient or active moiety in pharmaceutical equivalents or pharmaceutical alternatives becomes available at the site of drug action when administered at the same molar dose under similar conditions in an appropriately designed study."

TRACK 11:Route of administration

Route of administration is simply defined as the way or path how the drug or medicine enters into our body. It plays a major role because effectiveness is completely based on how we take the drug. There are many types, namely oral route, intravenous, intradermal, sublingual, nasal, ocular, rectal, intramuscular, vaginal, subcutaneous, nebulization and transdermal route. The fastest route is intravenous which is through injection.

Track 12: Clinical and medical pharmacology:

Clinical and Medical Pharmacology is the science of drugs and their clinical use. It is the basic science of pharmacology, with an added focus on the application of pharmacological principles and quantitative methods in the real world. Clinical pharmacology connects a gap between the medicinal and laboratory sciences. The objective is to promote the safety of prescriptions, maximize the drug effects and minimize the side effects.

Track 13: Pharmacogenomics

Pharmacogenomics is the study of how genes affect a person’s response to drugs. Pharmacogenomics determines how the genetic makeup of an individual affects the response to drugs. It deals with the influence of acquired and inherited genetic variation on drug response in patients by correlating gene expression or single-nucleotide polymorphisms with pharmacokinetics.

Market analysis

Pharmacology and toxicological studies 2019 cordially welcome you all to be a part of this conference which is mainly focusing on the latest advancements emerging in pharmacology and toxicology.

According to an international research company, in 2012 the size of the global pharmaceutical market reached $940 billion. In monetary terms, it grew by 6%. In the future, the sector is expected to grow at no less than 3% to 4% a year and if this happens the market will reach $1.2 trillion in 2016 and up to $1.5trillion by 2020. Another research company, Business Monitor International, has made a forecast for the size and geographical composition of the global pharmaceutical market in 2020.  By 2020, the Asian pharmaceutical market has a share of 33% in the global pharmaceutical market.

Pharmaceutical research work experienced tremendous growth in the past five years. In the next five years, growth will increase to 40% as per the market value. top companies involved in the Pharmaceutical sales are Pfizer, Johnson &Johnson, Merck, Abbott, etc. from the United States.

In 2012 North America accounted for 41.0% of world pharmaceutical sales compared with 26.7% for Europe. According to IMS data, 62% of sales of new medicines launched during the period 2007-2011 were on the US market, compared with 18% on the European market.

In 2011 the pharmaceutical industry invested about €29,200 million in R&D in Europe. A decade of strong US market dominance led to a shift of economic and research activity towards the US from1995-2005. Additionally, Europe is now facing increasing competition from emerging economies: rapid growth in the market and research environments in countries such as Brazil and China are contributing to the move of economic and research activities to non-European markets. The geographical balance of the pharmaceutical market and ultimately the R&D base is likely to shift gradually towards emerging economies.

The global pharmacovigilance market was valued USD 2,408.0 million in 2013 and is expected to grow at a CAGR of 12.6% during the forecast period. ADR represents a substantial burden on healthcare systems and is one of the prominent reasons for morbidity in developed countries.
