        Session on: Mycology and Phycology

Mycology and Phycology are the eukaryotic microorganisms and with them, this study is called Mycology. During classification, Fungi have been given their own separate kingdom. Fungi are multi-faceted which are distributed entirely the world, it can also grow in a large variety of habitats and can survive even the most critical conditions- which include the intense temperatures both cold & super-hot. Algae study is called as Phycology. These are the primary producers in the aquatic ecosystem, are extremely essential in the growth of microorganisms in the water eco-systems. In earlier, they were true plants, but after serious studies, it is found to be pseudo-plants, hence given a separate classification.  In most cases, algae are single-celled and only a few species are multicellular.

Session on: Cause of Infectious diseases

The pathogenic microorganisms (bacteriavirusfungi, and parasites) can cause infectious diseases that can spread directly or indirectly from one individual to another. The pathogens cause disturbance to the normal processes by stimulating the immune system to activate the defense mechanisms resulting in high temperature, inflammation, and other symptoms. The symptoms of infectious diseases have its own specific signs and symptoms for a specific disease. The infectious disease caused by pathogens is one of the leading causes of death worldwide. It becomes difficult for the practitioners to control the infectious pathogens if they show resistance to common drugs. Scientists are researching for new approaches to treat infectious diseases on the evolution of pathogens and drug resistance.

        Session on: Transmission of disease

The microbes enter the human body through various entries also known as the portal of entry which includes the respiratory tract, gastrointestinal tract, mucous membrane, and skin. A carrier is an individual capable of transmitting a pathogen without displaying symptoms of the disease. The transmission of pathogens is by two modes active carrier and passive carrier. The pathogen must have a reservoir before transmitting the disease also a pathogen may have more than one living reservoir. The transmission of microbes into the host body can be through different means such as direct contact, indirect contact, droplet contact, vector transmission, fecal/oral route and acquired infection.

        Session on: Microbial Pathogenesis

The microbial pathogenesis is the study of the biological mechanisms of the microbes that lead to the disease condition. Microbial pathogenesis deals with the mechanism through which the microbes can cause infectious disease and the development of the disease into acute or chronic illness. The pathogenic study of the disease condition allows the microbiologist to understand the underlying cause of the disease and identify the microbes responsible for the disease. This may also assist in controlling epidemics or preventing the outburst of the disease. The molecular and cellular mechanisms of infectious disease and its host-pathogen interaction and immunological response of various infectious agents are the key areas for a microbial pathologist.

        Session on: Prevention and Treatment

The infectious agents enter an individual body through the skin, injuries, inhalation of airborne pathogens, eating and drinking contaminated food and water, and parasites. The prevention of infectious diseases can be done by maintaining proper hygiene and clean environment, following lifestyle, etc. Immunization can also help an individual to resist many diseases. After the diagnosis of a specific illness, it becomes easier for a practitioner to choose the appropriate treatment. Most of the illness can be treated with the help of a common practitioner but some diseases where the individual does not respond to the treatment are difficult to treat. New approaches for treating drug-resistant pathogens are in developing stage to find new drugs.

        Session on: Medical Parasitology

The branch of Microbial parasitology deals with the organisms that sustain both outside and inside of our body Symbiosis. Symbiosis is the way of life. Symbiosis is an association between two organisms, that are beneficial to them both., also called as host, hence the name host-pathogen interaction not only within parasites & microbes but also with humans; These type of interactions commonly take place between a parasite and a host, where the parasites takes dual nourishment with the host playing a major role by supporting the parasite, are either helminthes, protozoan and arthropods, which although  parasites, but do not harm the human body, rather some of them assist the body in continuing its biological systems. They do not cause any major damage, but they are very opportunistic parasites, for that major damage is happened to the host system primarily when the body’s defense system is getting weak.
