Polymer Science and Technology

The word polymer is derived from classical Greek poly meaning “many” and meres meaning “parts.” Thus a polymer is a large molecule (macromolecule) built up by the repetition of small chemical units. Polymer physics is the field of physics that studies polymers, their fluctuations, mechanical properties, as well as the kinetics of reactions involving degradation and polymerization of polymers and monomers respectively. Polymers are large molecules and thus are very complicated for solving using a deterministic method. Yet, statistical approaches can yield results and are often pertinent, since large polymers are describable efficiently in the thermodynamic limit of infinitely many monomers.

Polymer Chemistry

Polymer chemistry is the study of large, complex molecules or polymers that are built up from many smaller units. It is about how the smaller building blocks or monomers combine, and create useful materials with specific characteristics by manipulating the molecular structure of the monomers/polymers used, the composition of the monomer/polymer combinations, and applying chemical and processing techniques that can, to a large extent, affect the properties of the final product. The study of  Polymer chemistry will help people to understand the relationship between structure and property spans from the molecular scale to the macroscopic scale.

Polymer synthesis and Polymerization

Polymer synthesis or Polymerization is the process in which relatively small molecules, called monomers, combine in a chemical reaction to produce a very large chainlike or network molecule to form polymer chains. The monomer molecules may be all alike, or they may represent two, three, or more different compounds. 

Nano Polymers and Nano Technology

Nano Polymer science is the study and application of Nanoscience to polymer nanoparticle matrices, Nanoparticles are nanometre-sized collections of atoms that can be used as building blocks to make a wide variety of materials, such as super crystals or ionic liquids. However, they lack the ability to bond along specific directions — like atoms and molecules do — which means they are not easily joined together to make large structures like filaments or films. This is because nanoparticles are typically coated with a capping layer to prevent further growth or clustering.

Material Science Engineers create new materials as well as do inventions by understanding how materials work and also develop the existing materials to improve its performance. Metallurgy is the domain of science and technology concerned with the properties of metals, materials and their productions and purifications.
Material is anything that serves as crude or raw matter to be used or developed. Example of raw materials are Minerals or metal from a mine, Wood from a tree, Crude oil etc.

Electronic, optical and magnetic material

Electronic materials are materials studied and used mainly for their electrical properties. The electric response of materials largely stems from the dynamics of electrons, and their interplay with atoms and molecules.
Optical materials are substances used to manipulate the flow of light. This can include reflecting, absorbing, focusing or splitting an optical beam.
Magnetic materials are that can be magnetized, which are also the ones that are strongly attracted to a magnet.

Ceramic and Composite materials

Ceramics are inorganic and non-metallic materials that are commonly electrical and thermal insulators, brittle and composed of more than one element. Ceramics typically include a combination of ionic and covalent bonds to form a material with high modulus and hardness, high melting point, high thermal expansion and corrosion resistance. Because these materials may be brittle, fracture toughness is also an important mechanical property.

Cancellation, Postponement and Transfer of Registration

If Allied Academies cancels this event for any reason, you will receive a credit for 100% of the registration fee paid. You may use this credit for another Allied Academies event which must occur within one year from the date of cancellation.

If Allied Academies postpones an event for any reason and you are unable or unwilling to attend on one of the rescheduled dates, you will receive a credit for 100% of the registration fee paid. You may use this credit for another Allied Academies event which must occur within one year from the date of postponement.

Allied Academies is not responsible for any loss or damage as a result of substitution, alteration or cancellation/postponement of an event. In the unlikely event of cancellation or postponement of the conference due to circumstances beyond Allied Academies reasonable control including but not limited to, acts of terrorism, war, and natural disaster, Allied Academies cannot be held responsible for any cost, damage or expense which may be incurred by registrants as a consequence of the event being postponed or cancelled. Due to any unavoidable circumstances if there is a change in venue of the conference, all the registered participants will be intimated immediately regarding the change.

All fully paid registrations are transferable to other persons from the same organization, if registered person is unable to attend the event. Transfers must be made by the registered person in writing to is Details must include the full name of replacement person, their title, contact phone number and email address. All other registration details will be assigned to the new person unless otherwise specified.

If the registrant is unable to attend, and is not in a position to transfer his/her participation to another person or event, then the following refund arrangements apply:

Before 90 days of the conference: 50% refund

Within 90 days of the conference: No refund
