Pharmacogenomics

Pharmacogenomics is the branch of Pharmacology that mainly focusses on the role of the genome towards the response of the drugs. The name itself consist of two terms pharmacology and genomics. Pharmacogenomics examines how the genetic changes of an individual affects his/her response to drugs. It basically deals with the influence of acquired and inherited genetic variation on drug response in patients by the correlation  of gene expression or singlenucleotidepolymorphisms with pharmacokinetics . The term pharmacogenomics is often used simultaneously  with pharmacogenetics.
